Tangier hosts intriguing Chinese calligraphy exhibition Lanting

    ayaApril 17, 2026

The city of Tangier hosted an art exhibition dedicated to Chinese calligraphy, titled Lanting, marking the World Chinese Language Day and part of the 2026 Year of China-Africa people-to-people exchanges.

The event, organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Rabat and the Confucius Institute in Tangier, aims to strengthen cultural dialogue and ties between Morocco and China by showcasing calligraphy as a key artistic expression of Chinese civilization.

The exhibition offers an interactive experience combining learning and entertainment, featuring a cultural display highlighting historical and artistic aspects, along with a traditional tea ceremony.

Visitors also took part in workshops introducing Chinese calligraphy techniques, as well as traditional games and a creative paper-cutting workshop known as Jianzhi.

According to statements to MAP, Executive Director Ho Yali emphasized that culture serves as a bridge between peoples despite geographical distance, noting the importance of engaging children with Chinese culture.

Meanwhile, Zhou Leong, co-director of the Confucius Institute in Tangier, said the initiative seeks to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Morocco and China.
