Leila Benali announces end of mining bureaucracy with digital registry

    ayaApril 9, 2026

Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, announced the official launch of the country’s digital mining registry during GITEX Africa 2026 held in Marrakech.

The initiative aims to modernize the mining sector, enhance transparency, and streamline administrative procedures related to mining licenses and investments.

According to the minister, the project is part of broader reforms including updates to the legal framework and licensing system.

She noted that the initiative aligns with Morocco’s strategic vision under the leadership of Mohammed VI.
