Morocco invests millions to upgrade healthcare facilities in the north

    ayaApril 6, 2026

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced the completion of the rehabilitation of 127 healthcare facilities in the region of Tanger Tetouan Al Hoceima, with an investment exceeding 579 million dirhams, as part of a national program to strengthen healthcare services.

According to an official statement, this initiative is part of a broader nationwide project targeting all regions, focusing on improving infrastructure and medical equipment, particularly in underserved areas.

The same source indicated that the program aligns with the High Royal Directives of King Mohammed VI, aimed at reforming the national healthcare system and ensuring equitable access to care, in line with framework law 06.22 and universal health coverage goals by 2030.

At the national level, 1400 primary healthcare facilities have been rehabilitated across 12 regions, with a total investment exceeding 6.4 billion dirhams, contributing to improved infrastructure, upgraded equipment, and the rollout of integrated information systems.

The program is set to continue through facility maintenance, expansion of electronic health records, ongoing training for healthcare staff, and the development of telemedicine services, alongside plans to build new facilities in underserved areas.
