The Director General of the Tanger Med Port Authority, Idriss Aarrabi, stated that the port is preparing to استقبال more vessels as global shipping routes are being adjusted.
In a statement to Reuters, he explained that rerouting via the Cape of Good Hope adds between 10 and 14 days to journeys before reaching Tanger Med.
He noted that the port is currently focused on managing capacity and preventing congestion while closely monitoring traffic flows.
He also confirmed that no cancellations have been recorded so far, and that cargo flows are not expected to be fully affected before mid to late April 2026.
