Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported that 53% of newly recorded tuberculosis cases in 2025 involved extra-pulmonary forms, according to official data released on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day 2026.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized the need to strengthen public awareness and clinical vigilance among health professionals to improve early diagnosis and ensure appropriate patient care.
The ministry noted that this observance aims to encourage early use of health services and improve recognition of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, which is often harder to diagnose despite its significance.
A national scientific conference will be held remotely on March 26, 2026, bringing together health professionals and institutional partners to discuss the epidemiological situation and recent developments in diagnosis and treatment.
The ministry reaffirmed that combating tuberculosis remains a public health priority under the national strategic plan 2024–2030.
