Police services in Tangier opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in the early hours of Monday, March 30, in order to determine the criminal acts attributed to two individuals suspected of attempting to rob a police officer under the threat of a bladed weapon.
According to preliminary information, one of the suspects, who has a criminal record in aggravated theft cases, accompanied by another individual, allegedly intercepted a police officer while returning home after completing his night shift, threatening him with two knives in an attempt to commit a violent robbery, which led the officer to use his service weapon.
The prompt intervention of a police patrol resulted in the arrest of both suspects after they attempted to flee, along with the seizure of the two knives in their possession, they were transported to hospital to receive initial medical care, pending further judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to determine all the circumstances of the case.
