Cleaning Workers in Sidi Slimane Protest Over Delayed Wages

    ayaFebruary 16, 2026

A group of cleaning workers serving various schools in Sidi Slimane held a protest on Monday morning outside the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education and Preschool, denouncing delays in the payment of their monthly salaries.

The demonstration was called by the Moroccan Labour Union and saw the participation of several workers who demanded the immediate settlement of pending wages, emphasizing the financial and social impact of the delays.

According to statements made by participants, cleaning staff perform essential duties related to maintaining school cleanliness and providing a healthy environment for pupils and teaching staff, and therefore call for the regular payment of their wages in accordance with applicable deadlines.

They further appealed to the competent authorities to address the matter through constructive dialogue and practical solutions to ensure salary regularity, indicating that the protest came after prior efforts to resolve the issue through communication channels.
