Mo Amer Brings His Netflix-Famous Stand-Up to Casablanca

Fez – Global stand-up star Mo Amer is set to perform in Morocco for the first time with an all-English show in Casablanca.

The internationally acclaimed comedian, actor, and writer will bring his sharp storytelling and bold humor to Mégarama Casablanca on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The set will lean on the personal themes that shaped his career, from identity and migration to family and everyday life.

Mo Amer rose to global fame on Netflix with two hit specials, “Mo Amer: The Vagabond” and “Mo Amer: Mohammed in Texas.” He also created and starred in the semi-autobiographical series “Mo,” which follows a Palestinian refugee navigating life in Houston.

The show earned a Gotham Award, a Peabody Award in 2023, AFI Honors, and a Television Academy Honor, and it was listed among the best series of 2022 by major US outlets. Season 2 arrived earlier this year, expanding the story that first won over audiences.

Amer’s path to the stage began after his family left Kuwait during the Gulf War and settled in Houston. Comedy became a way to process change and find belonging. That mix of humor and heart is now his signature. He has toured in more than 40 countries, building a wide fan base that connects with his easy timing, quick turns, and human stories.

Beyond stand-up, Amer appears in Hulu’s award-winning “Ramy” as the cousin who owns the neighborhood diner. On the big screen, he shared scenes with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in DC’s “Black Adam,” adding warmth and levity to the blockbuster. These roles helped carry his voice to audiences who might not have found him through stand-up alone.

Bringing Amer to Morocco marks another step for international live comedy in the country. The show is produced by Global Entertainment, whose CEO Hakim Chagraoui says the booking reflects growing interest among Moroccan audiences in English-language performances and original content. The night is set to mix new material with fan favorites, with the loose, conversational style that drives his specials.

    Tickets are available on guichet.com.
