Rabat – The youth-led GenZ212 movement announced today that it will organize peaceful demonstrations across Morocco on Saturday, October 18, as part of its ongoing campaign for dignity, justice, and accountability.
The announcement comes after the movement’s earlier decision to temporarily halt demonstrations, following a weekend of nationwide discussions aimed at reassessing its strategy and ensuring better organization.
In a statement shared on social media, the movement said the decision followed “responsible internal discussions and a wide voting process among members,” confirming a collective choice to continue its “peaceful protest approach and expand its forms.”
GenZ212 called on “all young Moroccans and citizens” to join the demonstrations “in large numbers” to support “just and legitimate demands.”
The statement noted that the movement plans to diversify its actions, including the expansion of its national boycott campaign against certain products. Details about its objectives and methods will be unveiled progressively.
It also noted that the movement will “continue to raise awareness by hosting guests and organizing meaningful debates,” aiming to ensure that every citizen feels involved in the cause “for dignity and justice.”
GenZ212 reaffirmed that its demands remain consistent with the ones listed in its original manifesto. At the forefront are the right to quality education and healthcare for all, the fight against corruption, and the enforcement of accountability among public officials.
The movement also reiterated its “top priority,” which is the immediate release of all detainees arrested for their participation in peaceful protests.
The upcoming protests come amid growing frustration among young Moroccans who say that recent official speeches and promises have not addressed their core grievances.
Despite the government’s calls for dialogue and reform, many within the movement believe that “concrete change” remains elusive.
The group’s statement described this new phase as a continuation of its “peaceful and organized struggle,” with working teams already preparing to ensure the success of Saturday’s demonstrations.
“Every Moroccan is concerned by this cause,” the statement concluded, reaffirming GenZ212’s message that its mobilization will persist until its “legitimate and urgent demands” are met.
