Six UIR Researchers Rank Among World’s Top Scientists in Stanford List

Rabat — Morocco’s International University of Rabat (UIR) is gaining traction as six of its scholars landed spots among the world’s top 2% of scientists in Stanford University’s 2025 rankings, marking a breakthrough moment for Moroccan research on the international stage.

A statement from the UIR called the achievement “a true source of pride” and “global recognition of the scientific value of its researchers.”

The university identified the honored scholars as Asmae Berrada, Amine Belhadi, Foued Saâdaoui, Khaled Mokni, Mohamed Bakhouya, and Said Ahzi.

Stanford’s annual ranking draws from the SCOPUS international database and evaluates researchers on publication quality, citation counts, and the overall influence of their work.

The methodology tracks both career-long achievements and performance over the past year.

The recognition caps a strong run for UIR, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

The university’s engineering schools recently secured ABET accreditation from the United States, along with CTI certification and the EUR-ACE label from Europe.

Its Rabat Business School now ranks in the top 20 globally among business schools.

UIR leads Africa in patent filings and holds the top position in Morocco according to the Times Higher Education Impact rankings.

The university’s performance suggests Moroccan research institutions can compete with leading laboratories worldwide.

Founded in 2010, UIR has built its reputation on academic excellence and cutting-edge research.

The Stanford recognition reinforces the university’s position as a major player in the North African country’s scientific advancement.
