Rabat – Karim Adeyemi’s name is surfacing again in Barcelona. Reports in Germany say that the Catalans are keeping an eye on the Borussia Dortmund winger, a player they first tracked when he was just starting as a talent at Salzburg.
The 23-year-old is under contract until 2027; Dortmund has opened talks to push that date to 2029 with a pay rise.
The German international has improved since Niko Kovac became Dortmund’s coach in January. He’s getting more minutes and contributing with goals and assists, which has brought back transfer talk.
Dortmund values him at around $80 million. If he signs a new contract, he’ll likely stay. If not, Dortmund may sell him before his deal runs down.
Barcelona is interested, but their budget is tight. Last summer, they spent less than $30 million due to LaLiga’s financial rules.
They signed goalkeeper Joan Garcia, brought in Marcus Rashford on loan, and added Roony Bardghji as a young prospect. The club continues to work within strict limits.
Adeyemi joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg. He played a key role in the Borussia Dortmund squad, helping them reach the Champions League final in 2022 when they lost against Real Madrid
Adeyemi scored 24 goals and provided 15 assists in 96 games in all competitions since he joined Dortmund.
