Amazon company has chosen Morocco for shooting season two of its thriller series “The Terminal List” starring Chris Pratt, confirming that the country has become an attractive destination for Hollywood movie-makers and producers.
Filming of the TV series will take place over the next couple of months across Marrakesh, then a large part in Casablanca and finally Tangier with the locations doubling for Syria, Eastern Europe, and Greece.
“The Terminal List” is among many big projects to choose to film in the North African country this year. These include Christopher Nolan’s new epic “The Odyssey”, starring Matt Damon and Tom Holland, and George Clooney’s spy thriller series, “The Agency”, starring Michael Fassbender.
The production teams are using a mix of local and international crew, including some who worked on the first season, which primarily filmed across California.
“The Terminal List” tells the story of James Reece (Pratt), a Navy Seal investigating the devastating ambush of his platoon during a high-stakes covert mission. Season two is based on author Jack Carr’s sequel in the Terminal List series titled “True Believer”, drawing Reece back into the world of espionage following a string of terrorist attacks.
Netflix is also expected to head to Morocco at the end of this year to film the first season of its TV series “Extraction”, starring Omar Sy, a spin-off of the movie franchise. The show is being produced by AGBO, directed by Louise Hooper, with Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) as showrunner.
Morocco is increasingly attracting Hollywood productions, including recently “Gladiator II”, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”, and now “The Odyssey”, which has been shot in various locations, including Ksar Aït Ben Haddou and Dakhla.
