Ittihad Tangier Acknowledges Misunderstanding Over Social Media Post and Apologizes to Fans

    ayaJune 19, 2026

Ittihad Tanger has acknowledged that the social media post which sparked widespread controversy in recent hours was not understood as originally intended. The club has apologized to its supporters for any confusion or misunderstanding resulting from the message related to the match against Renaissance de Zemamra.

In an explanatory statement released today, club officials clarified that the publication was never intended to offend Ittihad Tangier supporters or question their loyalty. The club also stressed that it had no intention of holding fans accountable, criticizing them, or imposing any form of authority over them.

The statement emphasized that supporters have always been the team’s strongest source of support throughout both successful and challenging periods.

According to the club, the initiative was part of a communication and marketing campaign linked to the match against Renaissance de Zemamra, which is viewed as an important fixture at this stage of the season. The campaign relied on a humorous and second-degree interpretation aimed at drawing attention to the importance of the game and encouraging strong fan attendance.

However, the club admitted that part of the fan base did not interpret the message in the intended manner and that the wording required greater clarification to prevent it from being perceived as an official statement carrying mandatory or punitive implications.

In an effort to ease tensions, club management issued what it described as a “sincere apology” to all supporters for any confusion caused by the initiative. It reiterated that the loyalty, commitment, and sacrifices of the club’s fans over the years require no validation or proof.

The club also reaffirmed its appreciation for all supporters, describing them as essential partners in the team’s past and future achievements, while calling for continued unity and solidarity during this important phase of the season.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that the sole purpose of the campaign was to support the club’s interests and mobilize fan backing ahead of the match against Renaissance de Zemamra, while renewing its appeal for supporters to continue standing behind the team in upcoming competitions.
