Morocco Expands Road Network as Part of 2030 World Cup Preparations

    ayaJune 15, 2026

Morocco is continuing to expand its road infrastructure as part of ongoing preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, with several major projects aimed at improving connectivity across the country.

According to figures presented by Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka, the national expressway network reached approximately 2,300 kilometers by 2025, representing an increase of about 820 kilometers compared with 2021.

The minister stated that the development of expressways and dual carriageways remains a key priority within broader efforts to strengthen transportation infrastructure and support economic and social development.

Among the major projects currently underway are the Tiznit–Laayoune expressway, road links connected to Nador West Med Port, and the Tetouan–Chefchaouen route, alongside several other projects across different regions of Morocco.

Additional infrastructure developments completed or advanced during 2025 include the Tit Mellil–Berrechid road project, the Guercif–Nador motorway, and the continental motorway linking Rabat and Casablanca.

These projects form part of a strategic vision aimed at improving mobility, enhancing investment attractiveness, and supporting Morocco’s preparations for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
