Former U.S. Ambassador: King Mohammed VI’s achievements have made Morocco a model of development and stability in Africa

    ayaJuly 27, 2026

Former United States Ambassador to Morocco David Fischer has said that the progress achieved under the leadership of King Mohammed VI in the economic, social, diplomatic and religious fields has positioned Morocco as a model of development and stability across Africa.

Speaking to the Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the King’s accession to the Throne, Fischer stated that Morocco’s achievements reflect a long-term strategic vision that has strengthened the Kingdom’s regional and continental standing.

He highlighted Morocco’s major infrastructure projects, particularly Tanger Med Port, which has become Africa’s largest container port, as well as the future Dakhla Atlantic Port and the high-speed rail network, describing them as outstanding examples of the country’s sustained development.

Commenting on the celebration of 250 years of diplomatic relations between Morocco and the United States, Fischer described the bilateral relationship as a historic, multidimensional partnership built on mutual trust and shared interests that continues to contribute to regional stability and economic development.

He also stressed that the strong human ties between the two nations provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in the years ahead across political, economic and strategic sectors.

The former ambassador concluded by expressing pride in having served in Morocco and voiced confidence that the longstanding partnership between Rabat and Washington will continue to grow and strengthen for generations to come.
