Security authorities in Tangier have intensified operations targeting stunt driving and dangerous vehicle maneuvers carried out both individually and during wedding processions, as part of broader efforts to improve road safety and protect public order.
The security strategy combines on-the-ground surveillance with the monitoring of incidents captured in real time and the analysis of videos shared on social media to identify suspected offenders. Those identified are arrested and subjected to legal procedures in coordination with the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Authorities have also reinforced police deployments across the city’s main roads through uniformed and plainclothes patrols, while judicial checkpoints are used to intercept offenders caught committing serious traffic violations. Repeat offenders are subject to stricter judicial measures under Moroccan law.
According to figures presented by Tangier Police Prefect Abdelkabir Farah during celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), enforcement operations conducted throughout 2025 and the first months of 2026 resulted in 951 individuals being referred to court for stunt driving offenses, while 974 vehicles were impounded.
The report also indicated that authorities recorded 109,756 traffic violations during the same period and collected 89,777 settlement fines totaling MAD 19,025,775 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with road traffic regulations.
Nationwide, Morocco’s Ministry of Interior reported that operations carried out during 2023, 2024 and the first half of 2025 led to the seizure of 34,508 motorcycles and 2,024 cars linked to stunt driving activities. In addition, 4,522 individuals were referred to the competent public prosecutor, 33,825 vehicles were impounded and 311 driving licences were confiscated.
These measures form part of the Ministry of Interior’s nationwide policy aimed at combating dangerous driving practices that threaten road users and public safety, while reinforcing respect for traffic laws and improving road safety across the Kingdom.
