Morocco’s Government Council has approved three new draft decrees concerning the direct social support system, import duties on soft wheat and its derivatives, as well as imported sheep, meat, and animal offal. The measures form part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen social protection and ensure the stable supply of essential goods to the national market.
The first decree, No. 2.26.434, amends the regulation implementing Law No. 58.23 on the Direct Social Support System. It sets the duration of eligibility for the exceptional financial allowance at 12 months, whether consecutive or non-consecutive, providing a clear legal framework for beneficiaries.
The Council also approved Decree No. 2.26.583, extending the provisions governing import duties on soft wheat and its derivatives, including the possibility of suspending those duties when required. The measure is intended to support the government’s strategy for managing cereal imports and maintaining market stability.
In addition, the government adopted Decree No. 2.26.584, which suspends import duties on live sheep and imported meat from cattle, sheep, goats, and camels. It also revises customs duties applied to imported animal offal from these species, as part of broader measures aimed at ensuring adequate supplies of livestock products and supporting the domestic market.
