Police officers in Tangier arrested 12 individuals aged between 18 and 27 on Saturday morning on suspicion of involvement in a case involving mutual assault, possession of illegal drugs, damage to private property and threats involving bladed weapons.
According to an official police statement, the suspects were allegedly involved in a violent confrontation that included stone throwing in a public street. The incident was captured in a video that circulated widely on social media, prompting a police investigation.
Investigators identified and arrested all of the suspected individuals. Searches carried out during the operation resulted in the seizure of 13 doses of cocaine, four psychotropic pills and a motorcycle believed to have been used in connection with the alleged offenses.
Police database checks also revealed that one of the suspects was the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant in relation to another investigation involving similar acts of violence.
All suspects were placed in police custody as part of a judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
