Moroccan nationals continue to rank among the largest groups benefiting from Spain’s “Arraigo” residence regularization program. Official figures show that 63,336 Moroccans have obtained residence permits through the scheme, making Morocco the second-largest beneficiary after Colombia.
According to a report issued by Spain’s Permanent Observatory on Immigration, under the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Moroccans account for around 15 percent of all beneficiaries. The Arraigo system allows undocumented migrants to regularize their legal status based on family, social, employment, or training ties.
The report recorded a 3.6 percent increase in Moroccan beneficiaries over three months and a 12.3 percent rise compared with the same period last year. It also noted that 35,347 Moroccan beneficiaries are registered with Spain’s social security system, reflecting their growing participation in the labor market.
The average age of Moroccan beneficiaries is 38 years. Women account for 31 percent of the total, while minors under the age of 16 represent approximately one percent.
By the end of March 2026, a total of 423,606 people had obtained residence permits through the Arraigo program, representing a yearly increase of 28.8 percent. Moroccan nationals also ranked first among beneficiaries receiving residence permits linked to vocational training and the “second opportunity” mechanism, according to the report.
