National security services at Ibn Battouta Airport in Tangier arrested a 40-year-old man on Sunday evening, May 10, on suspicion of involvement in a case related to the possession and trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
According to available information, the suspect was intercepted while preparing to board a domestic flight, and security checks led to the seizure of 10 kilograms and 215 grams of cocaine found in his possession, while a subsequent search of his residence resulted in the confiscation of an additional 138 grams of the same substance.
A background check through the national security database further revealed that the suspect was the subject of a nationwide wanted notice issued by judicial police services in connection with another ongoing investigation.
The suspect was placed in police custody pending the judicial investigation being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with the aim of determining all circumstances surrounding the case and identifying any possible national or international extensions linked to the alleged criminal activity.
