Moroccan artist Fatima Ouchay sparked widespread reactions on social media after announcing her entry into politics and elections, prompting her to issue a clarification through a post shared on her personal account.
In the post, Fatima Ouchay stated that art and politics are not separate fields, describing art as “a reflection of society” that carries messages capable of influencing public opinion.
The Moroccan artist also noted that art is influenced by political will and institutional orientations, adding that various forms of art throughout history have always been part of the broader public landscape.
Ouchay’s response came after criticism following her political orientation announcement, as social media users appeared divided between those supporting her new step and others who believe artists should remain away from political life.
