The health sector in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region has seen a union response after the National Public Health Union called for the immediate suspension of a deal outsourcing assistant healthcare services, citing potential impacts on service quality and recruitment standards
In a letter addressed to the head of the territorial health group, the union expressed its rejection of the move, stating that the concerned professionals are trained within public institutions and are expected to enter the workforce through public examinations rather than private contracting
The union indicated that the use of delegated management in this field could affect the legal and professional framework governing workers, which may have implications for the quality of care and patient safety, while also raising concerns about job insecurity in the sector
It further noted that the decision could be inconsistent, in its view, with legal provisions regulating the recruitment of health professionals, particularly those establishing competitive examinations as the main entry route into public service
The statement also highlighted the presence of unemployed graduates from public training institutions, suggesting that expanding outsourcing practices could further complicate their professional and social situation
The union called for urgent dialogue with social partners to address the issue, while affirming its intention to pursue available legal and union actions to defend workers’ rights and ensure compliance with regulations and the quality of healthcare services.
