Morocco prepares special criminal law for 2030 World Cup

    ayaApril 11, 2026

Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi announced that Morocco has prepared a special criminal law project for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, aimed at simplifying legal procedures related to certain cases as part of preparations for the event.

The announcement came during the signing of a memorandum of understanding with his counterparts Félix Bolaños García and Rita Alarcão Júdice, within the framework of cooperation between Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

According to available details, the proposed law seeks to ease procedures and encourage alternative solutions, including conciliatory approaches, to support the smooth organization of the tournament.

Joint committees have also been established to coordinate legal aspects between the three countries, as part of broader preparations for hosting the World Cup.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to develop an appropriate legal framework aligned with the scale and specific requirements of the 2030 World Cup.
