National security forces, in coordination with customs services at Tangier Med Port, foiled on the morning of Wednesday, April 8, 2026, an attempt to smuggle 181 kilograms of cannabis resin aboard an international transport truck bearing Moroccan license plates.
Border control and inspection operations led to the seizure of the drugs, which were carefully concealed inside specially prepared cavities within the metal structure of the truck’s trailer, while investigative procedures resulted in the arrest of the truck driver, a 35-year-old Moroccan national.
The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation conducted by the judicial police brigade at Tangier Med Port under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, in order to identify other potential individuals involved and determine the national and international extensions of this activity.
This operation falls within the framework of ongoing security efforts aimed at combating international drug trafficking and strengthening border control measures.
