Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations conducted operations on April 5 and 6, leading to the dismantling of a six-member cell suspected of involvement in both extremist-related and criminal activities across several cities.
According to an official statement, the suspects were arrested in Kenitra, Casablanca, Dar El Gueddari in Sidi Kacem province, and Sidi Taibi, with searches resulting in the seizure of extremist-related documents, bladed weapons, and sums of money believed to be linked to illegal activities.
Authorities also reported the confiscation of a face-covering mask, a glove, three vehicles including two used for transporting goods, and a motorcycle, all suspected of being used to facilitate these acts.
Investigations suggest that the individuals may have adopted extremist ideas and were allegedly involved in coordinated theft and robbery operations aimed at generating financial gains.
The reported method involved targeting livestock storage facilities in rural areas near Kenitra and Sidi Slimane, followed by the resale of goods in local markets such as Jemaa Shaim and Khmis Zemamra.
Investigations remain ongoing to determine the full scope of the case, identify further connections, and apprehend any additional individuals involved, while the suspects remain in custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
