The city of Ceuta recorded a significant increase in migrant arrivals during the first months of 2026, according to official data from Spain’s Ministry of the Interior, with 1,819 individuals arriving عبر border fences or maritime routes.
Data indicate that attempts were mainly concentrated near port areas, with no recorded arrivals by boats so far, reflecting evolving migration patterns.
According to El Faro de Ceuta, the figures mark a sharp increase compared to the same period in 2025, when only 340 arrivals were registered.
Approximately 215 migrants arrived over the past two weeks, continuing to put pressure on reception centers and infrastructure.
Compared to other regions, Ceuta remains among the most affected points, while the Balearic Islands recorded 1,179 arrivals and the Canary Islands 1,640, with Melilla remaining at lower levels.
Spanish authorities have taken steps to ease the situation, including transfers and increased border surveillance.
Despite these measures, entry attempts continue through multiple routes.
