Morocco has launched a €3.5 billion investment plan to develop tourist accommodation capacity as part of preparations to host the FIFA World Cup 2030 jointly with Spain and Portugal, aiming to strengthen hotel capacity and meet the expected demand during the global event,
According to Bloomberg, the plan includes the creation of up to 25,000 new hotel rooms through around 700 investment projects, 75 percent of which will be carried out in major cities, with funding primarily provided by Moroccan investors,
These investments are part of a broader vision to develop the tourism sector beyond the immediate needs of the event, by improving infrastructure quality and expanding the national hotel offering,
This move comes amid ongoing preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which will feature 48 teams, likely increasing the number of matches and boosting demand for accommodation services, particularly as Morocco is set to host several matches.
