The Ministry of Justice announced that King Mohammed VI granted a royal pardon to 1,201 individuals on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH, corresponding to 2026.
According to an official statement, the pardon includes both detained individuals and those at liberty who were convicted by various courts across the Kingdom.
The statement indicated that 1,182 beneficiaries fall ضمن the general category, while 19 individuals convicted in cases related to extremism and terrorism were also included after declaring a revision of their positions.
Among those in detention, totaling 1,063 inmates, 17 benefited from a full pardon of the remaining sentence, 1,045 received sentence reductions, and one life sentence was commuted to a fixed-term sentence.
As for those at liberty, numbering 119 individuals, they benefited from various forms of pardon related to prison sentences and fines.
This royal pardon comes in the context of Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Morocco.
