Rabat – Saudi Arabia booked their place at the 2026 World Cup after a goalless draw with Iraq in Jeddah. The Green Falcons stand as the 7th Arab country participating in the global tournament next year.
The match, held at Al-Inma Stadium, saw few clear chances as both sides struggled to break the deadlock.
The result keeps Saudi Arabia top of Group B with four points — one win and one draw — securing automatic qualification for the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada. It will be the Green Falcons’ 7th appearance at the World Cup.
Iraq, meanwhile, will face the United Arab Emirates, runners-up of Group A, in the Asian play-off final. The winner will advance to the intercontinental play-offs for a chance to reach the World Cup.
Qatar also qualified for the World Cup today. It will be Qatar’s second World Cup appearance, following their debut as hosts in 2022. It booked its sport for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 2–1 victory over the United Arab Emirates in the final round of the Asian playoffs.
