Jet2 Airline launches new service from Newcastle to Marrakesh – The North Africa Post

British low-cost airline Jet2 has launched a new route from Newcastle to Marrakesh to meet a growing demand for this destination. The flights to Marrakech are scheduled every Tuesday and Friday.

Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “We are delighted that Jet2.com has further strengthened its commitment to Newcastle Airport with the launch of new routes to Budapest and Marrakech.”

These new services provide passengers with even more choice and reflect the growing demand for connectivity from the North East to destinations across the world.
A Jet2.com spokesperson added: “Since going on sale with these new routes to Marrakech and Budapest from Newcastle Airport, we have experienced a phenomenal reaction with customers jumping at the chance to book our award-winning flights and holidays.”

Morocco has seen a remarkable surge in tourism since the pandemic, with total international arrivals reaching a record 17.4 million in 2024, a 20% increase from 14.5 million in 2023.

The UK has emerged as one of the top source markets, driven by expanded flight routes (e.g., Jet2’s 17 weekly winter flights from 14 UK airports), affordable packages, and Morocco’s appeal as a winter sun and cultural escape. British visitors now rank third or fourth among nationalities, behind France and Spain.

The first half of 2025 (January-June) recorded 8.9 million total tourists, a 19% rise from H1 2024, showing a strong momentum. UK arrivals are projected to exceed 1 million for the full year, building on 2024’s record.
