The display of an incomplete map of Morocco during a security conference held in Tripoli has sparked reactions, as Rabat continues its support for Libya’s political settlement process.
The incident occurred during the conference of military intelligence chiefs of Sahel and Mediterranean countries, organized by the government of Abdelhamid Dbeibah in April 2026, where Morocco’s map appeared without its full territorial boundaries.
This development comes within a context of cooperative relations, as Morocco has played a mediation role in the Libyan crisis, notably by hosting the Skhirat Agreement, along with dialogue rounds in Bouznika and Tangier.
Morocco’s absence from the meeting was also noted, with observers linking it to considerations related to regional balances, especially with the participation of countries such as Turkey and Tunisia.
European countries including France, Spain, Italy and Greece also took part, highlighting the growing international interest in the Libyan file.
